Critical Care Hospitalist

Physician opportunities include 24/7 in-patient coverage for the Cardiac Surgical Unit (CSU) at an excellent hospital located in North East Philadelphia.

Physician Responsibilities include:
Completion of twice daily formal evaluation and critical care level progress note on all CT surgical service patients in the CSU
Supervise post-operative CT Surgery ventilator weaning protocols
Manage patient fluid balance and intravenous pressor titration as needed based upon clinical need and objective findings such as Swan-Ganz catheter readings
Manage intra-aortic balloon pump settings as necessary
Evaluate and manage all urgent or emergent clinical needs for all patients in the CSU
Communicate all changes in CSU patient status with the appropriate attending physician and critical care consultant

Hours:
7AM - 7PM, Day Shift
7PM - 7AM, Night Shift

REQUIREMENTS
Physician Qualifications:
Background in internal medicine, cardiology, pulmonary/critical care, cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesiology with documented competency/experience in post-CT surgery patient management.
Competencies will include and understanding of the evaluation and management of post CT surgery complications, including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardias, pneumothorax, pericardial tamponade, rebleeding and hypotension, and disseminated intravascular coagulation
Proficiencies will include the ability to manage Swan-Ganz catheters and understand intra-aortic balloon pump operation.
Position Requirements:
Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine
Unrestricted PA Medical License
DEA certificate
ACLS certification
