Compliance Project Leader

JOB SUMMARY: The Compliance Project Leader (hospital) is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements at all campus hospitals, including outpatient hospital based clinics. This person will be responsible for 1)maintaining and updating the current hospital compliance plan, 2)ensuring consistency and uniformity in the application of the compliance program policies and procedures, 3)developing audit plans and timely completion of audits, and 4)developing and maintaining effective tools and methodologies to appropriately monitor compliance. Assists the Executive Director of Compliance as necessary to meet the objectives of the Compliance Program. Performs other duties as needed. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: BA/BS degree required. Relevant experience accepted in lieu of education. Certification as an RRA, ART, or CCS from the American health Information Management Association preferred. Two years experience in compliance, hospital billing and/or medical records managing projects in a complex business or medical center setting required. Experience with hospital billing and coding requirements required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills required. Must possess pertinent skills with respect to preparing and delivering verbal and written presentations, including English language skills. Must communicate with diplomacy, objectivity, and professionalism and have the ability to relate to people of diverse demographic backgrounds. Ability to work independently and work calmly under pressure. Committed to continuous quality improvement in systems, processes and performance; consistently exercising a learning attitude and approach to all duties. Must be computer literate and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Ability to write and speak with professional quality. Demonstrated flexibility in project management, ensuring timely completion or required work in conjunction with constantly moving deadlines and multiple priorities. type at least 30 words per minute using Microsoft Word processing program, be able to prepare and sort spreadsheets using Excel, be able to utilize database management programs such as Microsoft Access to produce reports. Ability to trend, analyze and interpret data and judge and act on analysis of data. Good problem solving skills. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with others and maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations, as well as industry best practices. Able to handle pressure, deadlines and interruptions. Extensive knowledge of hospital billing and coding requirements, specifically Medicare and/or Medi-Cal requirements required. Prefer knowledge of Start, Anti-Kickback statute, Federal False Claims Act and other hospital related state and federal regulatory requirements.
