Collection Specialist (Multiple Openings)

Experience amazing opportunities and outstanding rewards with the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.The Collection Specialist will be responsible for coordinating the functions of Collections and Customer Service on the individual patient account. The person in this position will have specific knowledge on Managed Care and Non-contracted Commercial Programs and use this information to ensure patient demographic information is accurate and funding source is billed and collected appropriately, accurately and timely. Other responsibilities include making and receiving phone calls from patients and insurance companies regarding accounts. Respond to all requests for information or for the payment of outstanding accounts. Following up and appeal pending claims that have not been paid 30 days from date of discharge. Advise supervisor/manager on trends of payment and problems as seen by doing reconciliation of logs with payer. Prepare adjustment forms as needed to correct accounts and submit these forms to the supervisor/manager. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent plus one year of experience within a medical setting. Must have an understanding of medical center and collection experience.
