Coding Specialist

We are seeking a CODING SPECIALIST to assign appropriate codes (ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, APC) for reimbursement and statistical information gathering. This position is also responsible for: managing integrity of data quality utilizing 3M Encoder; assigning codes for all patient types within all Gillette locations; the peer review process; statistical collection, reporting, and analysis of data; following Coding Clinic guideline and facility/payer appropriateness.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of broad-based hospital and outpatient medical record functions including, but not limited to; numbering and filing systems, admission and discharge record procedures and record assembly, diagnosis coding schemes and indexes. RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P required (or eligible to obtain credential exam within 1 year of hire). Personal computer experience using a variety of databases and Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word) is beneficial. Minimum of 2-3 years progressive coding experience in acute care or clinic environment required. Pediatric coding experience preferred.
