Clinical Social Worker

Borgess Medical Center, in Kalamazoo, MI. has a full-time and an on-call Clinical Social Worker position available. The full-time vacancy is currently a temporary position, but the department hopes to make it a permanent position for the right candidate.

The Clinical Social Worker reports to the Director of Care Management. This position provides crisis intervention and supportive therapy for patients/outpatients, patients families and significant others to help them adjust to an illness, a death, or other event. The position also provides education/clarification/reframing of the aforementioned situation to assist the patient, family and significant other cope with the reality of their situation. In addition, the position conducts emotional, psychosocial, and financial comprehensive assessments and facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to formulate a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan.

REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of social work theories, therapies and techniques of casework processes, and principles of public welfare at a level normally acquired through completion of a Master’s degree in Social Work.
Six - twelve months of Acute Care experience required.
Prefer Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW). Limited License Master’s Social Worker License acceptable (LLMSW) but applicant must obtain their LMSW license within 3 years of hire if full-time. Part-time and PRN staff with Limited License Master’s Social Worker License will be allowed additional time to complete LMSW requirements based on the number of hours worked. Availability to work on weekends, holidays, other shifts and/or rotation of on-call as needed.
