Clinical Phamacist
Job Summary
Will work on a team that is responsible for all clinical pharmaceutical aspects for AMERIGROUP. Will analyze utilization information to determine the focus for clinical intervention. Will work directly with PBM, health plans, and the pharmaceutical manufactures to develop, implement, and provide outcome information for all clinical pharmacy programs. Will be an active member of Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medical Earnings Improvement meetings, Pharmacy Operations committee and various other committees. Will perform drug reviews for presentation at the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee as well as add insight into new and future pipeline drug therapies. Enhance prior authorization process that may include supervision and supporting pharmacy technicians as well as interaction with AMERIGROUP network and non-network providers. Responsible to author pharmacy related topics for inclusion in provider newsletter. Will perform counter detailing initiatives to providers. Must have the ability to interact with various departments such as Medical Management, Operations, Quality, Marketing, and Finance. Experience with pharmacoeconomics is desirable.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Perform utilization reviews
2. Develop strategy for managing identified utilization patterns
3. Implement and perform outcomes analysis for above strategies
4. Participate in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
5. Perform drug reviews
6. Perform formulary analysis
7. Provide support on all clinical issues
8. Oversight of Prior Authorization process
9. Support pharmacy technicians
10. Design various clinical material designed to educate providers, members, and internal staff
11. Other duties as required by AMERIGROUP Corporation
REQUIREMENTS
Position Requirements:
Pharm. D. or BS in Pharmacy (Pharm. D. desired)
Interest in all business aspects of Managed Care Pharmacy
Two years Pharmacy Managed Care experience
Ability to evaluate clinical data and develop strategies to enhance Pharmaceutical Care
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Travel will be required
Other Knowledge and Skills
1. Supervisory experience
2. Knowledge of Managed Pharmacy Environment
3. Oral presentation skills
4. Familiarity with various software programs such as (MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Explorer)
5. Ability to complete multiple projects and meet deadlines
6. Appreciation of cultural diversity and sensitivity towards target population
