Alta Bates?originally Alta Bates Sanitarium, an eight-bed hospital for women and their infants?was founded in 1905 by Nurse Alta Alice Miner Bates. Today, Alta Bates includes the Ashby Campus and the Herrick Campus, once known as Herrick Hospital and Health Center.

Summit Medical Center grew out of and continues the traditions begun nearly a century ago by Providence, Samuel Merritt, and Peralta hospitals. Summit comprises Summit North, South, and West Pavilions, the Providence Medical Office Building, the Peralta Medical Office Building, Samuel Merritt College, the Health Education Center and the Summit Medical Center Foundation.

Each of our campuses has a 24-hour emergency, obstetric and medical/surgical services in both Oakland and Berkeley. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse Care Coordinator, the Care Associate 1 assists in the carrying out of the patient plan of care.
REQUIREMENTS
High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum of one-year recent clinical patient care experience. Successful completion of a Certified Nurses Assistant program, or Hospital/Military Corpsman or equivalent direct patient care experience or current enrollment as a student nurse with successful completion of Nursing Arts class in an accredited Registered Nurse program. Current BCLS. Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English. Able to write legibly and effectively present ideas; document activities; read and interpret written information. Successful completion of Alta Bates Medical Center education program for Care Associate I. Specialty experience preferred for each Patient Care Center (i.e. Medical/Surgical, Critical Care, Women's Services, Subacute, Rehabilitation, Transitional Rehabilitation, etc.)
