Caregiver - Assisted living / C.B.R.F.

On-call, various shifts

The caregiver provides therapeutic intervention, programming and assistance with ADL's (i.e. personal hygiene, eating, dressing). The caregiver works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Completes work assignments of resident care, involving resident hygiene and grooming, toileting, mobility and bed making. Resident condition can range from completely ambulatory to semi-ambulatory to comatose and is subject to change
Maintains resident confidentiality.
Attends and participates in unit nursing staff meetings and in-service educational programs
Communicate observed changes in resident conditions to Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse
Follows state and federal regulations, as outlined in Luther Manor Home policies and procedures for resident care
Transfer resident up to 150 lbs individually, greater than 150 lbs with assistance of another caregiver or nurse
Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION:
The caregiver reports to the RN or LPN.
This position has no supervisory responsibility
REQUIREMENTS
CBRF certification required. Two years experience preferred.

Must have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with residents in a variety of areas
Must have the ability to speak to and hear residents and staff; also to read and write English
The mobility to spend 75% of the work shift standing and/or moving about the work area
The physical strength to move or assist residents as required by Essential Job Functions #1 and #6
Demonstrated ability to work with the aging and memory loss/confused residents
