This position is located at the Ambulatory Care Center, Internal Medicine Clinic. Duties include triage and assessment, patient education, management of patients with acute/chronic medical problems. Duties also include assisting providers with procedures, administering medications and intravenous fluids, drawing blood samples. Minimum 2-3 years experience caring for acute and chronically ill patients. Must be team oriented with strong interpersonal, communication and assessment skills.

The nurse for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program is a focal point for patient management with the full responsibility of assisting in continuity of care and education for patients with inflammatory bowel disease. The Nurse is responsible for assisting with coordination of all aspects of patient care for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program. In collaboration with the Clinical Faculty in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program, who will serve as the Primary Supervising Physicians, the Nurse will help evaluate, prioritize, summarize, and coordinate delivery of care and patient education for all patients receiving care from the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service. The Nurse will serve as a resource for patients, families, and medical staff who are involved with the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic. The Nurse will act as a patient advocate in the treatment decision process and in turn, serve as a liaison between various members of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic and other health care providers both within and outside of the institution.

Candidate for this position must have strong clinical skills, knowledgeable in the care of patients with chronic Pulmonary Systems conditions including Asthma, Pulmonary HTN, CF, COPD. Requires excellent communication, administrative and organizational skills, able to work within a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate should have some experience in Smoking Cessation counselling. Duties include triage and assessment, patient education, assist providers with procedures, administer medications, intravenous fluids and access porta caths.
