Shft: Day/EveningJob Description:Assists patients in the development of individuality and appropriate methods of self-expression through promoting an environment in which the patient can problem-solve and test out new behaviors. Assists the patients in acknowledging and accepting responsibility for psychological and behavioral patterns through providing feedback and positive reinforcement, consistently applying program rights and regulations, behavior modification program and communicating in an appropriate manner with the patient. Participates in admission procedures; orients patient and family (significant others) to unit and program. Escorts patients to ancillary departments for procedures/appointments. Escorts patients to off campus to appointments. Provides appropriate emergency care and maintains a safe environment. Maintains a secure environment and acts as a resource for emergency situations throughout the night shift (where appropriate).Education and Experience Preferred: A Bachelors Degree in Human Service field or Graduate of a Psychiatric Assistant or Nurse Aide training program or one year experience in the Behavioral Health field. Will consider current nursing students or students studying a Human Services field.
Required: High School Diploma with at least 1 year of experience as a Psych Tech or equivalent.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Physical and mental health, emotional maturity and interpersonal competence. Demonstrated ability to effect planned change in a positive manner. Able to work with a interdisciplinary team. Able to appropriately resolve conflict and crisis situations. Demonstrated ability to seek opportunities for personal and professional growth. An understanding of normal and abnormal development across the life span. Job requires continuous communication skills, frequent reading skills, written communication skills, and computer skills. Ability to critically think and problem solve.Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Will obtain the following within six (6) months of employment:
Basic Life Support
CPI Certification
Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting-APS
PEM certification (NE child/adolescent programs)
