Behavior Intervention Field Supervisor
SUMMARY: Supervises employees providing community-based services to individuals experiencing mental health, developmental disabilities and/or substance abuse issues. Reviews service notes, reports monthly progress and incidents, and assists in completing required documentation to continues services. Assists Behavior Intervention Manager with training new staff, evaluating staff, monitoring staff schedules, time and travel sheets, service notes and other required documentation.
A. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1.Supervises employees providing community-based service to individuals experiencing mental health, development disabilities and/or substance abuse issues.
2.Ensures client’s service plan is appropriate in identifying specific needs, outcomes and interventions.
3.Assists in the utilization review process.
4.Attends and participates in treatment team meetings.
5.Reviews documentation from service providers to ensure compliance with current Medicaid and Medical Records criterion.
6.Reviews and processes timesheets, progress notes, and all other required paperwork in a timely manner.
7.Tracks service authorizations, to include start/end dates and authorized hours per week.
8.Ensures all Behavior Intervention Specialists receive required training and personnel records are in compliance.
9.Annually attends the following trainings: Clients Rights/Confidentiality, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Training, Code of Ethics, CPI Training, CPR/First Aid.
B. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1.Performs other duties as assigned.
2.Practices universal medical precautions by understanding and utilizing personal protective and safety equipment.
3.Ensures confidentiality regarding sensitive material including employee and service user’s individual rights to privacy, and protected health information.

PART III
SUPERVISION:
May supervise 2 or more employees under the supervision of the Behavior Intervention Manager. Is responsible for coordination of the assigned area of community service delivery.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting the Behavioral Intervention Manager with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and applying corrective action; addressing complaints and resolving problems under the supervision of the Behavioral Intervention Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
•Master’s Degree in a related Human Service field with one year of full time post-graduate experience with population served; or
•Bachelor’s Degree in a related human service field with two years of full time post-undergraduate experience with population served; or
•Bachelor’s Degree in a field not related to human service with four years of full time post-undergraduate experience with population served; or
•Substance Abuse Professional who has a counseling certification by the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Certification Board.
•North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse with four years of full time experience in psychiatric mental health nursing.
•CPR, First Aid, Seizure Management and Heimlich maneuver training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals and program plans. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, respond to common inquiries or complaints from the people supported, staff or regulatory agencies. Ability to write and evaluate progress notes that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information before individuals, groups of persons, parents and/or guardians, state officials, and other employees of the organization. Ability to effectively communicate with the people supported and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in common units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with problems in generally standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid drivers license (this is a condition of employment) including personal vehicle insurance coverage. Must maintain proficiency in professional field if licensure and maintenance of credentials is a part of professional certification.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Successfully complete other training as may be required or amended by company policy, particularly as it relates to state and federal regulation changes and revisions. Ability to use personal computers. Develop organizational and communication skills that foster TEAMWORK.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly in an office type setting and residential (home) type setting with varying degrees of background noise, usually less than moderate. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
