Assistant Department Director - Neuro/Ortho

The Inpatient Care Division at Borgess currently has an Assistant Department Director management position which will focus on the Neuro/Ortho area at Borgess. Neuro/Ortho is a 48-bed department offering the latest research in orthopedic and neuroscience medicine. Offering additional innovative technology in joint replacement surgery, stroke therapy, neurointerventional therapies and spine care. This nursing team has just recently achieved status as a certified primary stroke center.


Reporting to the Department Director, the Assistant Department Director assists with the planning, coordination, and delivery of patient care department on a 24 hours basis. The incumbent is expected to carry out departmental goals and ensure optimal outcomes for designated patient populations within approved operating budget. Individuals will maintain productive working relationships with physicians in their areas promote employee engagement with all associates and support department operations to meet designated patient quality and safety outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS
•Current Michigan RN Licensure required.

•Bachelor’s degree preferred or initiated within 1 year and completed within 5 years.

•A minimum of three (3) years of current clinical experience in acute care setting in neuro/ortho

Experience supervising clinical staff required.

•Must be able to address administrative and/or clinical issues; through demonstrated use of independent judgment.

•Effective interpersonal skills required, able to advice and counsel staff within own functional area. Consistently uses basic concepts of relationship centered care.

•Ability to anticipate and respond effectively to changes in direction and principles.
