Advocacy Project Specialist - Injury Prevention

Rewarding clinical and professional excellence is a goal of Cook Children’s Health Care System.Department: CCMC Comm Health OutreachSchedule: Full-TimeSummary: Works under the supervision of the Community Health Outreach (CHO) Program Coordinator to promote children's health issues related to unintentional injury prevention with a primary focus on child passenger safety and drowning prevention/water safety. Responsibilities as a certified child passenger safety technician include education of parents/caregivers regarding the proper installation of car seats. Additional responsibilities include operations coordination and management of car seat checks, water safety events, and educational programs and presentations.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. One to two years of pediatric experience preferred. At least 2 years experience working with the public; including experience in health promotion, health protection, health education, volunteer services, customer service, or special events. Requires weekend/evening work and routine local travel. Excellent interpersonal skills, public speaking skills, and relationship building capabilities. Strong organizational skills; effective verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to work collaboratively. Certification as technician or instructor in child passenger safety by SK/NHTSA required. May be obtained within first 2 months of hire. Instructor level needs to be attained in the minimum time frame recommended by SK/NHTSA. Must have current Texas Driver's License. Able to drive the Safe Kids van.
