APRN/PA - Dept of Medicine-Medical Intensive Care Unit

Hartford Hospital is an acute care hospital, located in the south end of Hartford Connecticut. The Hospital came into being in 1854 when a catastrophic explosion created the need to treat the many injured. In 1994, The Institute of Living, a psychiatric hospital founded in 1822, became the Mental Health Division of Hartford Hospital.

Today, Hartford Hospital is a major tertiary care and community health care center, serving a statewide patient population. The hospital has been a recipient of numerous highly prestigious national awards, recognizing the institution for its medical excellence, as well as its work in the areas of community relations, minority recruitment and the provision of health services within a diverse population.

Hours: 40 hours. Day/Night rotation, every third weekend, every other holiday.

Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective advanced practice care for patients, families, and others in a target population, and participates in the medical management of patients, to achieve or maintain optimal health status, manage disease and reduce risk of illness. Engages in independent decision-making regarding the health care of individuals, families and groups across the lifespan and across the health care continuum. Reports to Nursing Director and Medical Director.

As a teaching hospital, Hartford Hospital is a primary affiliate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Dentistry for both graduate and undergraduate medical education.


Hartford Hospital, along with MidState Medical Center, is a wholly-owned acute care subsidiary of Hartford Health Care Corporation (HHCC).
REQUIREMENTS
APRN requires National certification in Advanced Practice MSN and current CT APRN license or eligible. PA requires current CT PA license and Board certification or eligible. One year experience preferred. Critical care experience preferred.ACLS certification and the demonstrated nursing competency at an advanced practice level. Demonstrated ability to positively interact with the medical/nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team in the Medical Intensive Care Unit.
