Sr Merchandiser/Buyer Gourmet Foods

Our client is seeking a Senior Merchant/Purchaser for Specialty Gourmet Grocery.Your busy day will consist of working with the Senior Merchandising Team, Marketing and Operations to define specific strategies for all high end retail stores.You will develop and manage a business process based on the principles of category management
You will manage the procurement efforts for multiple retail locationsYou will assure good working relations between merchandising and operations, marketing, supply & logistics in order to assure organizational alignment and efficiencies
You will maintain high-level relations with suppliers.
You will have budgeting and forecasting responsibilities for the gourmet/specialty business across all locations.
You will also be responsible for total sales and net profitability across all locations
REQUIREMENTS
In order to qualify you must have:
•College degree in Business Management preferred
•5+ years purchasing/merchandising experience within gourmet/specialty foods within the high end grocery sector•5+ years in leadership role in retail within a high end grocery working with multiple locations
•Must have strong analytic skills and the ability to think strategically. You must be creative and have a successful track record increasing sales in specialty foods.
•Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously
•Must be a team player and interact with staff at all levels/functions of the company and its operating units including outside food suppliers.
•Ability to build, develop and maintain business relationships with various vendors
•Demonstrated attention to detail, customer service, and problem resolution
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Ability to earn and sustain trust and maintain a high level of confidentiality
