Produce Buyer

Well established produce distributor in the Midwest seeks a Produce Buyer. The Produce Buyer will be responsible for handling all Northwest grown fresh produce items.

The Northwest Buyer will be expected to develop relationships with vendors, learn to manage inventory levels of western products to maximize profitability, and develop a good working relationship with the sales team.


WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH THE POTENTIAL TO HEAD UP OUR PURCHASING DEPARTMENT.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have experience with Nortwest product - apples, pears, onions, potatoes, etc.

The successful candidate must be able to have the right amount of product at the right time to fill customer orders with minimal shrink, know how to buy and care for product in a way that insures quality, and maintain a profitable category. The biggest challenge in this position is the pressure to have good product arrive to fill customer orders in a just-in-time fashion.



Candidates must possess product knowledge and have an awareness of inherent urgency. Success will depend on your obsessiveness about quality and customer satisfaction with the product.
