Associate Grocery Team Leader

Department: GroceryJob Summary:
The Associate Team Leader supervises all grocery team operations and Team Members. The responsibilities are many, varied, and directed toward upholding Whole Foods Market Core Values and the company’s goals. This position is for individuals training to become a Grocery Team Leader.Will do the following principle duties and responsibilities:
1. Successfully complete Grocery learning checklists.
2. Perform all duties and responsibilities of Grocery Team Member, Buyer(s) and Supervisor.
3. Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
4. Maintain team policy and operating standards.
5. Open and close department according to established procedures.
6. Provide excellent customer service and regularly practice and model suggestive selling techniques.
7. Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for stocking product.
8. Practice courteous and proper etiquette when answering phones and pages.
9. Comply with all applicable state health and safety codes.
10. Maintain clean and sanitary operating environment and ensure all sanitation requirements are consistently met and logs are being used daily.
11. Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature and sweep worksheets as required.
12. Oversee team and resolve difficult customer situations.
13. Be aware of customer flow and needs and direct Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
14. Assist with resolving team concerns and communicate concerns to the Team Leader.
15. Support buyers with all buying responsibilities including ordering product and maintaining appropriate back stock levels.
16. Interview, select, and train qualified new members upon approval of the Team Leader.
17. Schedule Team Members to cover all duties and ensure they follow through with assigned responsibilities within set labor guidelines.
18. Evaluate and document Team Member work performance.
19. Attend regularly scheduled store operations meetings as necessary.
20. Help to achieve and exceed margin and sales targets.
21. Assist Team Leader in analysis of sales, reports, and labor.
22. Record attendance and tardiness. Communicate attendance issues or concerns to Team Leader and Store Leadership.
23. Support national, regional and store programs.
24. Support Team Leader in principle duties and responsibilities.
25. Function as point person in absence of Team Leader.
26. Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader, Store Leadership and Grocery Coordinator(s).
REQUIREMENTS
1. Knowledge, skills, and abilities of Grocery Team Member and Evening Supervisor.
2. Minimum 1 year grocery experience including buying experience or equivalent
3. Ability to sell proactively and communicate effectively with customers.
4. Extensive knowledge of grocery products.
5. Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary for good customer and team relations.
7. Capable of teaching others in a constructive and positive manner.
8. Able to prioritize efficiently and delegate responsibilities.
9. Familiar with company purpose, policies, standards and merchandise.
10. Familiar with safety policies and procedures.
11. Analytical ability and proficiency in math.
12. Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize.
13. Ability to perform physical requirements of position.
14. Ability to operate all necessary equipment.
15. 40 hour availability; able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as required.Physical working conditions:
1. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
2. In an 8 hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours, sitting 1-4 hours.
3. Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing & pulling.
4. Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting & reaching.
5. Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
6. Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
