Urban Planner in Downtown Fort Lauderdale

Help us to create a great Downtown through innovative transit systems, world class park systems, pedestrian friendly streetscapes, and art & culture.
This is an entry-level planning position within a small office setting in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Asset management
Infrastructure planning
Trend analysis
Economic projections
Typical duties will include, but are not limited to:Data collection/analysis (statistical information/demographics)
Maintenance of organization’s map inventory
Coordination with partners in marketing and maintaining downtown parking garage
Oversee the maintenance of downtown park
Administer application process for park events
Monitor the construction of current capital projects
Examine the condition of past capital projects and address problems where necessary
Any other assignments as directed by Executive DirectorAdministrative duties include, but are not limited to:Preparation of board meeting backup through memorandums, visual presentations, graphs/tables, and other relevant documentation
As part of a team, assist with the preparation of board meeting packets
Creation of contractual agreements and resolutions
REQUIREMENTS
This is an entry-level position. Urban planning experience and/or schooling preferred, but not required. Experience with data collection, project management, and asset management is a plus! Any combination of experience and/or schooling will be considered.
Candidate should have knowledge of downtown planning (urban development and redevelopment) and should be familiar with the following software programs:Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access
Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat Professional
Google Earth (GIS preferred)
Macromedia DreamweaverCharacteristics:Ability to be versatile to cover all responsibilities listedA balance of in-office work and outside field work is typical of this position
Independent working structure (high initiative), but must be able to work within a team setting as well
Interaction with the public is not typical of this position, but candidate should be able to communicate to a wide range of people
The ability to prioritize in a fast paced, ever changing environment is crucial
Report to the Executive Director and will work closely with other key staff.
