Training Specialist IV

Provides classroom and hands-on instruction to Customs and Border Protection personnel under the auspices of the National Enforcement Equipment Maintenance and Repair (NEEMR) program; Instructs on a variety of non-intrusive inspection equipment to include x-ray and gamma imaging systems, vapor tracers, radiation detection and identification, density gauges, etc. Training is composed of both classroom and hands-on practical instruction designed to replicate the students actual work environment as closely as possible. Approximately 50% of instruction is conducted in a classroom setting, with the other 50% conducted at the equipment location. Trainers work with the students in actual stream of commerce environments at U.S ports of entry and must be able to adapt to the extremes of those environments, when necessary. Trainers will be expected to be subject matter experts on the pieces of equipment for which they have been trained. The management staff will look to the trainer to assist with the content development of any and all types of training materials (Instructor and Student Guides, Job Aids, CBTs, and Web-Based materials); May provide work leadership for other employees. May serve as a trip/team lead; May conduct research into new training, educational, and multimedia technologies; Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned; Participates in special projects as required.
Position is contingent upon Prime Contractor approval of candidate. Travel approximately 50-60% of time throughout the continental United States. Remaining time will be spent working in Tucson, AZ area facility. This is a full-time temporary position and includes full benefits. Relocation assistance not included.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Training and Development. A minimum of 2-5 years of directly applicable hands-on adult training experience is required. Previous experience must include facilitating various technical training courses. Knowledge of training methodologies including the application of training principles, concepts, practices, and standards is critical. Applicants with current Treasury BI clearance will be given priority. Prior supervisory experience desired. Heavy standing required while delivering classroom and hands-on instruction. The candidate must be able to maneuver in and around vehicles, work areas, platforms, etc. within and among stream of commerce. Must have the skills to deliver effective presentations to both small and large groups. Must be able to assimilate new material quickly and work effectively in the field individually or as part of a team. Must be able to make sound and reasonable decisions, have good customer service skills, and able to adapt to changing work environments and schedules. Must have experience in a teaming environment. Must have the ability to write reports with few errors. Candidates will be required to submit a writing sample.
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation for a Treasury BI clearance and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and employment.
