Position supports engineering & capital project management of the transportation system program, concentrating on neighborhood traffic issues & traffic controls outside of the Richmond Signal System. Also provides oversight of other traffic control devices throughout the City that will have transportation safety impacts, evaluation of traffic capacity, accident & analysis, & preparation & review of traffic impact studies.

Engineer III- Traffic Engineering
Salary Range: $52,866 to 86,834

Position supports diverse functions of the traffic engineering division with leadership roles in key programs particularly concentrating on the Richmond Signal System. Has sole oversight of operation & safety of our transportation roadway network, particularly at approximately 500 signalized intersections. Experience in ITS & signal system management are required.

Engineer III-Stormwater Engineering Project Management
Salary Range: $52,866-$86,834

Position serves as project manager for planning, design &/or construction & maintenance phases of projects (primarily drainage, environmental, or civil). Will review the work of contracted consultants, prepare and expedite bid packages, assignment letters, & easement acquisition documents, prepare civil & engineering designs, investigations, inspections, & studies for drainage conveyance & environmental solutions & projects. Will also oversee stormwater capital improvement projects.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements For Engineer I position: BS in Engineering, 1 yr related exp, (Equivalency will include co-op exp or professional engineer training, i.e. successful completion of initial professional engineering examination) & a valid Virginia driver’s license.

Minimum requirements for Engineer III positions: BS in Engineering, 4 yrs related exp, project mgmt, construction of major projects & supervision of personnel, valid VA driver’s license, PE license in VA or obtain PE license within one year of hire. The preferred candidate will have strong communication, leadership, management, organizational, & problem solving skills.
