Telecommunications Supervisor
Position provides supervision and oversight to an assigned shift of the Telecommunications Division in the Police Department. This division provides services to the Police Department and community that include receiving and processing 911, emergency, non-emergency, and administrative calls for police services, dispatching officers and equipment by voice radio and computer systems, and perform related work as necessary to provide for public safety; coordinates activities with other city departments, divisions and external agencies; assist the Telecommunications Manager in the development of policies and procedures affecting operation of the Telecommunications Division, and provide for direct supervision, including performance reviews and general disciplinary actions of the assigned Telecommunications Operators. As a working supervisor, this employee will also be responsible for performing all of the duties assigned to a Telecommunications Operator. Position requires: Minimum of three years experience as a Telecommunications Operator or related field with 911 experience. Knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, correspondence school or additional equivalent work experience may substitute for education. Valid Arizona Operator's Driver's License or ability to obtain Arizona Driver's License upon hire. Current ACJIS Level A TOC, or equivalent from any other state in the U.S. Ability to type 35 wpm or 5000 ksph (net) The ideal candidate will posses at least 5 years experience working as law enforcement dispatcher, with a least 2-years experience as a dispatch trainer, lead dispatcher, and/or dispatch trainer. Selected candidate will be required to pass a comprehensive background investigation to include: Polygraph Psychological Examination Credit History Check Drug Screening * To continue in the testing process applicants MUST turn in a completed application, meet the minimum requirements for the position and MUST successfully complete and submit a typing certificate by the closing date of Friday, September 22, 2006, 5:00 p.m. TELECOMMUNICATIONS SUPERVISOR TESTING AND INTERVIEW SCHEDULE Testing will be held on Friday, September 29, 2006 from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Testing will include the following: WRITTEN TEST ASSESSMENT CENTER Only a limited number of the most highly qualified applicants meeting the City's requirements will be invited for an interview. TYPING TEST REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must complete and receive a typing test certificate on their own. The typing test certificate must be received by the closing date of Friday, September 22, 2006, 5:00 p.m. All typing test certificates must be turned in to human resources (Attention: Vicki). Out of state applicants may mail their typing test certificates directly to the human resources department. They must be post marked on or before the closing date. Typing test certificates can be obtained through employment agencies, vocational training centers and community colleges. The test must be signed by the proctor/instructor. Results need to show gross and net words per minute or key strokes per hour. The test certificate must have been received up to 6 months prior to the closing date. The test must be taken at a testing site with the proctor/instructor present. Any type of internet based testing will not be accepted. The applicant is responsible for all fees to obtain a typing test certificate. Applications must be filled out on-line. Resumes are not accepted in lieu of on-line applications.
