KSBEO Profile
The Kansas Department of Transportation contracts The Kansas Safety Belt Education Office to promote occupant protection in the State of Kansas. With a primary focus on saving lives and reducing injuries, KSBEO encourages Kansans to buckle up and travel safely on every ride. To measure compliance, KSBEO conducts an annual safety belt usage study, which involves over 548 survey sites across the state. Additionally, KSBEO aims to increase statewide awareness about Child Passenger Safety, airbags and other occupant protection devices through educational classes, seminars and programming.

To accomplish these goals, KSBEO often collaborates with outside sources including law enforcement agencies, Emergency Medical Services, primary and secondary schools, Health Departments, safety coalitions and others. Each year, KSBEO reaches a variety of audiences, ranging from children in schools, to adults in the workplace, with a combination of public information, educational programming and community awareness efforts. Overview
The Traffic Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing occupant protection programs throughout Kansas and develops, produces and distributes the quarterly newsletter.
Plans and conducts Child Passenger Safety Training events
Promotes Child Passenger Safety Week and Buckle Up America Week
Represents KSBEO at the Kansas State Fair
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree
Strong public relations and communication skills
Excellent creativity, planning and organizational skills
Computer knowledge
A valid driver's license
The ability to pass background checks
