System Administrator / Data Administrator

Two UNIX System Administrator/Data Administrator positions available in Charlottesville, VA. Provide data acquisition and administration support to the Program Management Office for a key government application. Work with the PMO to identify high value data for loading into the data stores accessible by the application. As part of this activity, travel to customer sites to identify and coordinate access to data of value to end users.
Once identified, coordinate the acquisition of site-specific data. Work with appropriate government representatives to include the PMO, functional users, and security personnel. Follow Information Assurance (IA) procedures to include drafting MOUs / MOAs for appropriate signatures to protect sensitive data.
Develop data crawling and loading scripts to load various types of data to include HTML, MS Office documents, email with or without attachments, and data from SQL databases. Troubleshoot the data loading process as required. Execute data loading of and/or integrate access to additional enterprise data stores. Coordinate with the PMO on database naming conventions and database schemas. Coordinate access to application databases with the end users. Verify the backup and recovery of site-specific data. Coordinate inclusion of site-specific data into the Disaster recovery architecture as appropriate. Generate data acquisition software requirements to enhance the application data loading and acquisition process.As required, provide system level documentation necessary for operational approval or accreditation by various US Government governing organizations. Develop and maintain data architecture documentation to include drawings and descriptions of application data stores. Develop and maintain documentation on the application data replication architecture. Develop and maintain documentation on backup and recovery procedures for site-specific data. Develop and maintain documentation on the disaster recovery procedures and architecture.
Act as a liaison between PMO personnel and users throughout DOD on enterprise data acquisition and data access issues to ensure problem solution and user satisfaction. Perform other duties as assigned by the PMO.
REQUIREMENTS
Required skills include Unix systems administration (Solaris and/or Linux), Web services, and network administration. Individuals must be able to develop and execute scripts using a Unix scripting language such as Perl. Should also have a working knowledge of SQL databases and email administration. Requires Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or another engineering discipline and at least 5 years of system administration experience in an operational environment. Current TS/SCI clearance. Must be available for some shift work - salary differential will be provided in these cases.
