The Emergency Department at Riverside County Regional Medical Center is a large unit comprised of 41 treatment areas. There are (6) acute trauma beds, (3) acute cardiac beds and (6) other monitored beds for acute patients. The 25 general exam rooms include a decontamination room, security rooms, an ENT, cast room, as well as a forensic exam room. The ED is open 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week. The ED also operates ten (10) of its beds as a FAST TRACK during peak hours to see the non-acute patients. Full-Time Registered Nurse-Emergency Room Overview and Responsibilities:The ED has attending physician coverage around the clock, provided by board certified emergency physicians. Since we are a teaching facility, the attending physicians regularly supervise resident physicians.RCRMC is dedicated to educating the community and the ED regularly hosts students of all types, from ROP medical assistants, EMTs & EMT-Ps, LVNs, RNs, and PAs. We work with the judicial system to provide an avenue for community service through the TEMPO program (part of the Alternate Sentencing Program of Riverside County).This ED sees about 64,000 patients annually. This translates to about 175 patients in 24 hours. The busiest days are always Mondays (Tuesdays and sometimes Wednesdays) when the census can reach 227.We operate as a Base Station hospital and require all of our RN staff to become MICNs (Mobile Intensive Care Nurses).These nurses can answer the paramedic radios and direct ambulance traffic and supervise patient care in the field. We are a Level II Trauma Center with a helipad. We admit an average of 1000 trauma patients annually. Most of our trauma patients are victims of blunt trauma (80%). Most of that trauma is motor vehicle related (45%).The ED assures that the licensed staff has specific training in Trauma, such as TNCC and ATLS, (Trauma Nursing Core Course and Advanced Trauma Life Support). We also train SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) nurses and they are on-call to examine over 250 patients annually who are victims of possible RAPE. REQUIREMENTS
Registered Nurse-Emergency Room Must Possess:Previous experience in Emergency Department or Critical Care preferred. Education:Graduation from a recognized college with diploma or degree as a Registered Nurse. License/Certificate:Must possess and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.Possession of a valid California Driver’s License may be required of some positions in these classes.
