The Adult Critical Care Unit (2D) is a 24-bed unit dedicated to the trauma, medical and surgical needs of the critically ill adult and elderly patients. A multi-disciplinary team approach is utilized to provide optimal care for our diverse population. The unit is staff with all Registered Nurses who work closely and collaboratively with the medical staff, respiratory therapists, social workers, pharmacists, and other clinicians to meet the physiological and psychosocial needs of the individual. Registered Nurse Adult Critical Care overview and responsibilities:As a Level II trauma center, the unit staff are supported by the trauma, medical, and neurosurgery services.The staff receives training and education in the management of the unstable patient, modes of pharmacological treatment, utilizing mechanical ventilation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, intracranial pressure monitoring, and other modalities.The nurses experience broad preparation in caring for a wide variety of illnesses, i.e., GI bleed, sepsis, myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, unstable angina, cardiogenic and septic shock, hypertensive crisis, decompensated cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, renal failure, liver failure, DKA, and respiratory failure. In addition, extensive teaching is provided about various patient populations including adult trauma, neurosurgery, vascular, abdominal, ENT, gynecological and general surgeries.Many of the nurses in the unit have obtained the national certification for critical care.The unit offers a flexible schedule and a twelve-hour shifts to allow nurses to continue their education or have a three-day weekend.The unit welcomes new graduates, non-ICU nurses, and experience ICU nurses who would like a new experience or continue their experience in intensive care nursing. REQUIREMENTS
Full-Time Registered Nurse-Adult Critical Care Requirements Education:Graduation from a recognized college with diploma or degree as a Registered Nurse. License/Certificate:Must possess and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.Possession of a valid California Driver’s License may be required of some positions in these classes. Pre-Employment:All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of both a pre-employment physical exam, including a drug/alcohol test, and a criminal background investigation, which involves fingerprinting.
