Project Manager
NOTE: Salary Range is $9,482 - $16,001/month. This position requires completion of a background check.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Manager will manage, coordinate, and administer large and complex projects from the conceptual phase through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, and close-out. When assigned, he/she will simultaneously manage, coordinate, and administer multiple projects, usually grouped by funding types such as non-capital, general plant, or line item. It will be necessary to validate project scopes and direct the development of budgets and schedules, monitor progress, and initiate action to assure schedules are met and work is performed within budget. It will also be important to resolve problems and coordinates the final turnover of the project to the client.
REQUIREMENTS
DUTIES: The candidate will be responsible for leading a project team of multiple disciplinary engineers and architects in the execution of facilities projects safely, within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with established codes and quality standards. He/she must be responsible for construction subcontract management and for establishing and managing effective project control systems. It will also be necessary to be responsible for initiation of innovative and cost-effective project solutions and acquisition strategies that increase cost-effectiveness and achieve timely or accelerated completion. The candidate will act as the primary point of contact with DOE & LBNL clients and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the project organization, as well as conduct periodic project and client status meetings and prepare monthly status reports. He/she will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of safety including establishing project specific safety procedures, over site of safety implementation, occurrence reporting, and corrective actions. It will be necessary to coordinate project start-up, commissioning, and turnover to the client, as well as obtain client and DOE acceptance of the work and sign-off of the project.
QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive work experience as a project manager is required for this position, in addition to comprehension of architecture/engineering, procurement and construction techniques, interfaces, and inter-dependencies. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written is essential, as well as excellent interpersonal skills. The candidate must be familiar with construction safety and quality assurance practices as well as with risk assessments, cost-effective analysis, and waste minimization/pollution prevention best practices. Experience with personal computers and associated software (word processing, spreadsheets and scheduling projects) is required, and the candidate must hold a valid professional license obtained by written examination to practice architecture or engineering in the State of California. Experience in design/build contracting is desirable. The preferred candidate will have earned a recognized degree in the applicable engineering discipline/architecture from an accredited college or university, and has relevant experience in the appropriate professional field.
