Programmer - Geographical Information Systems Analyst
The Position:
Under general supervision, performs work of considerable difficulty in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) management; performs related work as assigned. Designs, implements and manages integrated GIS systems; analyzes user needs and develops applications to meet them; supports the GIS department interactive web site and server; supports the GIS department internet-based mapping application; provides support to customers using the GIS department interactive web site; maintains system integrity and security. The essential functions of this position include: sitting; working with and around others; working alone; color vision for web site functions; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch for working the computer keyboard.
This position's primary responsibility is to develop and support the county's Interactive GIS Mapping Web Site and to provide customer service to the many users of the web site, bother internal and expernal. The position also provides secondary support for administration of the application's GIS Oracle data base.
The County's GIS Department is a full service department, supporting internal county requirements, as well as working with many other outside governmental agencies, commercial orgianizationa dn private citizens.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field, with two years of progressively responsible experience on ArcIMS and GIS internet mapping applications programming, systems analysis, integration and management, OR any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Preferences:
The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge of GIS concepts and methods, and hands-on experience and skills working with ArcIMS and multiple operating systems including NT and Unix; Oracle data base software version 9.x and 10.x; application programming languages including JAVA, Java Script, Visual Basic, Net; ArcGIS 9.x data structure (vector and rastor data); and ArcSDE data base administration.
