The City of Olathe, Kansas is seeking qualified individuals for employment to enforce local, state and federal laws, to aid citizens, investigate crimes, and enforce traffic regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates must have above average written and verbal communication skills; a High Diploma/GED; be at least 21 years of age; correctable vision to 20/20; and have no commissions/convictions of any felony. Must pass a written test, physical agility test, oral board interview, polygraph, in depth background investigation, Chief of Police interview, a psychological evaluation, and a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Applicants must reside within a 45 mile radius of the Olathe Police Department with one year of employment date. Starting Salary: No previous experience: $35,235; Lateral Officer Starting range: $36,644 - $41,220 based on years of patrol experience. Top out salary: $60,751. A one time bonus of $1,500 upon successful completion of the Field Training Program. All individuals interested in testing for this position will be required to turn in a completed City of Olathe application and present valid photo identification on the day of testing. Those individuals who pass the written exam with be invited to participate in the agility testing that afternoon at the Regional Police Academy Building, located on the Johnson County Community College Campus at 12345 College Blvd.; in Overland Park, Kansas. *Please note – Applicants traveling more than 120 miles, that desire an oral interview that same weekend as the written/physical agility testing, must contact the Police Personnel Sgt. at least three weeks prior to the scheduled testing date.
