Perform professional or entry level planning work for Pierce County Planning and Land Services Department, Current Planning Division. Reviews projects/applications for compliance with various land use codes, regulations, zoning or other related areas. Assists the public, contractors, architects, property owners, and others on related planning matters. Performs related job functions as assigned. Requires four-year degree in planning, geography, public/business administration or related discipline. Additional experience directly related to the duties of the position may substitute for the recruiting requirements. Applicants applying for the Planner position(s) will be screened into the appropriate level based on qualifications. Note: A Planner 1 may be promoted to the Planner 2 classification after successful completion of two or more years of service and demonstrating skills of the Planner 2 classification.
