Oracle Database Administrator

The DBA, under the close supervision of the Government's Project Manager, is responsible for the operational performance of the ORACLE RDBMS instance(s). Serving as the Oracle DBA/System Administrator of ERGSC Reston.
REQUIREMENTS
Providing on-call support to ERGSC Oracle DBAs located in the field centers.
Providing Oracle software installation support and maintenance for ERGSC.
Providing software and installation support for Government and Contractor Oracle developer and designer staff members at ERGSC.
Provide enhancements to existing databases as well as support for troubleshooting problems and maintenance support.
Development of new databases from provided design documents.
Design of both new and modified database designs utilizing CASE technology.
Development of user interfaces (both character based and graphical).
Development and maintenance of documentation associated with databases either new or under maintenance (both hard copy and on-line).
Provide Oracle database expertise for the entire ERGSC, including conduct of periodic (or as needed) training on both Oracle products and databases developed.
Install, maintain and support Oracle systems on all ERGSC supported hardware platforms. Responsible for trouble shooting, performance tuning, capacity planning and resource management; provides periodic reports and status briefings.
Support installation and testing of new Oracle software releases including testing of existing database applications to assure continued operation.
Perform system administration tasks as related to database access controls, IT security and resource utilization.
Maintain an inventory of all Oracle licenses and where installed.
Provide general database support services and assistance to database users.
Modify existing Oracle database system implementations.
Provide routine operational and related LAN communications support to functional users of Oracle-based systems on a monthly, weekly or other regularly established schedule. This includes provision of support to execute programs, move files, generate reports, tune system performance, and perform routine data base backups.
Test, implement, and provide follow-up instruction to technical and functional user personnel regarding use of the revised database systems or capabilities.
Develop system and program documentation or update existing documentation associated with database systems capabilities and operations.
Coordinate Oracle system installations at other ERGSC sites via teleconference, e-mail or on-site visits.
Provide increased user application development support.
Provide assistance to Government RDBMS instructors in conducting user training courses.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of three (3) years general experience in Oracle RDBMS System Administration / Database Administration.

Experience in the Oracle software development tools (Designer 2000 and Developer 2000), and Oracle Internet Application Server including at least one (1) year in a SUN Solaris environment running in conjunction with a Novell network operating system.

Experience operating and maintaining an Oracle Internet Application Server.

Education:

Bachelors degree in an IT related field.

An Oracle Data Base Administration Training Certificate from either the Oracle Corporation or an Oracle approved third party training vendor.
