Job Description – Contractor Space Policy Analyst
in Support of the
G-3/5/7 Space and Missile Defense Division

The position provides assistance in the development, coordination and staffing of actions pertaining to the Army, Joint and National space policy and strategy. The incumbent shall be expected to develop recommendations for the integration and synchronization of space policy, planning and acquisition activities across the Army Staff, Army Commands and Army service component commands.

Position must:
Coordinate and work with the other Services, the Joint Staff, the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the National Security Space Office and, potentially, such non-DoD organizations as NASA, NOAA, the US Geological Survey and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy on space-related policies, activities, initiatives, actions and issues.
Prepare Army positions and assist the Government members of the Space and Missile Defense Division in interfacing on space matters and actions with the DoD Executive Agent for Space/National Security Space Office, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, other Services and agencies, organizations and institutions; the individual filling the position must be prepared and able to represent the Division at conferences, meetings and other forums with such organizations. Individual may be asked to present as well as prepare briefings.
Provide space subject matter expertise and experience with space technology and space systems and in the development and evaluation of potential/proposed solutions for Army space needs.
Assist in the development, preparation and/or drafting of briefings, HQDA Forms 5, memorandae, information papers, fact sheets and other documents which the Space and Missile Defense Division must prepare.
Serve as the primary action level reviewer for a fair-share portion of the documents which the Space and Missile Defense Division is tasked to review and draft the appropriate documents providing proposed comments and suggestions to the authoring organization.
Assist the Government members of DAMO-SSS in executing the variety of tasks which must be completed in any given time period in order for the Division to smoothly and successfully fulfill its responsibilities as an element of the Army G-3/5/7 staff.
Assist in preparing for and conducting Army Space Working Groups, Army Space Councils of Colonels and meetings of the Senior Army Space Working Group; individual may be asked to record proceedings of such meetings and prepare, publish and disseminate minutes as a formal record of these meetings.
