Landscape Architect

Performs review of Landscape Plans for residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed use development for compliance with Lake County Land Development Regulations and Comprehensive Plan and prepares staff reports for presentation to the DRS Committee, Zoning Board and BCC. Coordinates with Code Enforcement inspectors to ensure site landscape installations are inspected to determine compliance with approved plans. Provides open space planning and design assistance to property owners and developers to ensure compliance with County regulations and ensure cost effective design and maintenance of required open space parcels. Also assists with implementation of various aspects of the County’s Conservation and Open Space Easement Program. Participates in the preparation of Special Area, Historic Overlay and Traditional Neighborhood Plans and Programs and is responsible for the preparation, updating and implementation of Landscape and Open Space Design regulations contained in the County’s Land Development Regulations. Prepares technical reports memo’s, letters and presentations as required and works closely with other County staff, citizens, property owners and developers in a variety of settings.
REQUIREMENTS
PENDING BCC APPROVAL - Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and three (3) years of professional experience; or any equivalent combination of related education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions. A Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and Landscape Architect Registration in Florida is preferred and can substitute for one year of experience. Experience should relate to practice for a public agency or private consulting firm engaged in urban or rural planning, site and landscape design, development of landscape design guidelines and regulations, or landscape plan and construction supervision. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class “E” driver’s license.
