INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
SAP DIVISION
The City of Tacoma seeks an Assistant Director for the SAP Division. This position reports to the City’s Chief Information Officer with responsibilities for direct and indirect supervision of supervisory, professional, technical and clerical personnel, as well as assisting in the development and implementation of City and department goals, objectives, policies and priorities. Oversight and administrative responsibilities include management of 52 full-time employees, including union and non-union positions, in functional, technical and training roles. The Assistant Director oversees a $20 million biennial budget.
The ideal candidate is an individual who has helped other organizations establish a stable SAP support structure, and who is now ready to become part of a progressive, first-class IT leadership team in transitioning the IT Department into a high performing organization. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, result-oriented and proven leader in the technology arena with high level management experience in the public and/or private sector. Candidates who display exceptional communication skills and embrace significant challenges and opportunities with enthusiasm and confidence will be considered favorably. A customer focus, as well as strong management and motivation skills is also important.
Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $92,060 to $117,478 per year. In addition, the City provides excellent medical, dental and vision plans; personal time off, 12 paid holidays; and participation in the Tacoma Employees’ Retirement System.
Position Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, management information systems, computer science, or related field is required for this position. A minimum of five years of significant relevant management and/or supervisory level experience in a technology-based organization is also required. Experience in managing an SAP support organization in an enterprise-wide environment is a must, although similar experience with other tier one enterprise resource planning suites will also be considered. Project and business process management in this arena will also be looked on favorably.
