DIRECTOR
Office of Attorney General seeking a Director of the Juvenile Justice Monitoring Unit ("JJM"). By law, the JJM is charged with monitoring all residential juvenile facilities operated by the Department of Juvenile Services ("DJS") or owned by DJS and privately operated, to ensure that the children's needs are being met, their rights are upheld and they are not being abused. The position is responsible for supervising and managing the JJM as well as investigating, evaluating and reporting on each facility regarding the care, treatment and discipline of children and the processing of grievances regarding same. The JJM also makes recommendations regarding its findings and reports actions taken by DJS in response. Holidays, weekend and evening work required. Candidates must have strong supervisory and managerial skills and knowledge of investigative methods and procedures. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Experience in juvenile justice preferred.
