ELECTRICIAN
The City of Miami’s Department of General Services is seeking an experienced Electrician to service City-owned facilities. Installs, alters, maintains and repairs wiring systems, public address systems, switchboards, flood lights, ornamental lights and other electrical fixtures and equipment. Installs and makes electrical repairs to specialized equipment such as suction pumps, electric sterilizers and therapeutic lamps. Installs and maintains motors and generators. Dresses and polishes commutators. Seats and replaces brushes. Rewinds and replaces coils and armatures, and does other electrical and some mechanical work in repairing and replacing parts. Wires and runs conduit on new construction, and rewires existing structures when indicated. Performs temporary wiring for special events, Performs electrical maintenance on relays, contactors, motor starters and heating units, uses ammeters, power factor meters, synchroscopes and frequency meters, performs electrical maintenance on relays, contactors, motor starters and heating units. Performs other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
Desirable Qualifications: Valid State of Florida Driver’s License (Class E or higher), High School Diploma, GED or completion of a vocational program in the electrical field, Miami Dade County Certificate of Competency in accordance with F.S.S. 489 as a Journey Level Electrician plus three (3) years experience as a Journeyman Electrician. State of Florida Commercial Driver’s License is Preferred.
NOTE #1: A Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class B or higher) must be obtained prior to the end of the probationary period.
NOTE #2: DRIVING RECORDS WILL BE CHECKED FOR VALIDITY PRIOR TO ELIGIBILITY DETERMINATION.

THE REQUIRED EXPERIENCE MUST BE DETAILED ON THE APPLICATION FORM IN ORDER TO QUALIFY.
