GUILFORD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE GREENSBORO NORTH CAROLINA DETENTION SERVICE OFFICER GREENSBORO FACILITY & HIGH POINT FACILITYThese are non-exempt positions under FLSA Salary Range $33,962 - $43,148 DOQ EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PAY FOR QUALIFYING DEGREES: 5% above starting salary for an Associate's Degree and 10% for a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Transcripts are required. LAW ENFORCEMENT/ MILITARY EXPERIENCE PAY INCENTIVE: Additional monetary incentive is offered for qualifying years of experience in Law Enforcement Corrections and Military. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: A Detention Service Officer is a non-sworn position within the Detention Services Division. This position requires handling adult inmates who have been arrested, detained or sentenced by court action. The primary function of the Detention Services Officer is the safety and care of those inmates.
REQUIREMENTS
RECRUITMENT STANDARDS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Successful candidates must possess an satisfactory credit history which will be obtained by this office. Unpaid collections accounts, charged off accounts, repossessions, or unpaid judgments may result in closure of the application process.Successful candidates must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation by the Sheriff's Office, which includes fingerprints and photograph. The candidate must be of good moral character. They must not have been convicted of a felony or a serious misdemeanor by a local, state, federal or military court.Candidate must be a CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATESCandidate must be AT LEAST 21 years of age at the time of application.Candidate must be able to perform all of the essential job functions of an inexperienced Detention Services Officer, unassisted, and at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements.Minimum Education and Experience: High School graduate or G.E.D. with demonstrated work experience to perform job duties, such as experience in local or federal detention or corrections centers, military police, or other law enforcement settings or other similar work settings; or graduation from a two-year Associate Degree program with emphasis in corrections or criminal justice or related field; or graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.Successful candidate must be able to pass a drug test and a complete medical examination by a licensed physician, including psychological screening and evaluation. Weight must be in proportion to height.Must possess or be eligible to receive a valid North Carolina driver's license.
