Community Resource Specialist

Assist prospective Weed & Seed communities in obtaining Official Recognition designation, and in the formation of Steering Committees by facilitating the development of written goals and objectives, develop and implement monitoring instruments and methods and review budget estimates. Act as Department of Justice representative supporting existing Weed & Seed funded, and non funded sites. Ensure the most effective use of resources such as service providers and participants to the Weed and Seed initiative. Assist with identifying and facilitating the resolution of interagency law enforcement problems. Work with Law Enforcement Coordinator to design and implement approaches to facilitate communication and problem resolution by a wide variety of law enforcement organizations, including local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Serve as a member of standing and ad hoc committees to develop strategies to solve law enforcement problems. Represent the U.S. Attorney at such meetings as required. Assist in the preparation of Weed and Seed grant proposals with local partners to ensure quality assurance and compliance with procedures. Pursue additional sources of funding for the Weed and Seed strategy, including working with Steering Committees to pursue grant sources and grant writing. Collect data from Steering Committees on program activities and participants. Oversee preparation, design and writing of draft reports on program activities, accomplishments, and evaluation. Monitor agencies involved in program implementation, e.g. service providers and program participants. Assist in the drafting of policies and procedures for the operation of Safe Haven Centers for the Weed and Seed Steering Committees. Display knowledge of all levels of law enforcement, including local activities related to community-oriented policing. Help to develop strategies that build and sustain relationships between entities. Prepare technical and administrative reports. Confer with state-wide Steering Committees and/or participants to develop procedures to correct program deficiencies. Responsible for administrative and reporting requirements to USAO and DOJ Community Capacity Development Office (CCDO) as well as coordination and oversight of district-wide meetings/conferences.The position will be based on a forty hour work week with a flexible work schedule due to the possibility of evening/weekend meetings that will be required for the position. Local and non-local travel will be required for the successful contractor.The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts will conduct a full background investigation on the selected contract position candidate.
