CRIMINAL INTELLIGENCE ANALYST I

Reviews, extracts and analyzes reports and other information and compiles data into local form to provide general or specific intelligence for use in investigative and planning decisions. Collects and coordinates information and intelligence; organizes, analyzes and prioritizes intelligence; determines reliability and validity. Maintains intelligence databases; indexes findings; reviews publications. Obtains pertinent information from agency files in responding to similar requests from other agencies. Prepares analytical reports, summaries and assessments. Assists with personnel briefings; assists police officers with the debriefing/interviewing of witnesses, suspects and informants. Attends scheduled departmental and professional meetings as assigned to present briefings or obtain pertinent information relating to investigations and planning. Performs employee background investigations, as needed. Performs other related work as required.

REQUIREMENTS:Permanent Civil Service Status as a Crime Analyst II plus one (1) year of satisfactory service in said classification. Possession of an Intelligence Analyst Certification is highly desirable.
OROPEN REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Police Science or related field plus three (3) years experience in crime analysis OR an equivalent combination of training and experience beyond a Bachelor’s degree in one of the aforementioned or related fields. Possession of an Intelligence Analyst Certification is highly desirable.DOCUMENTATION:If qualifying under the “Open” requirements, proof of education must be submitted with application in order to qualify. College transcripts reflecting degree conferred and major must be submitted with application unless degree reflects academic major on its face. Applicants must clearly describe their experience on the application form or risk disqualification.TOXICOLOGY: PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYEES SHALL SUBMIT TO A TOXICOLOGY SCREEN AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. THE COST IS $30.00, THOUGH SUBJECT TO CHANGE. IF THE RESULTS ARE NEGATIVE, THE CITY WILL PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT FOR COST OF THE SCREEN.
