CMM Programmer/Operator - Dimensional Inspector

Required:

Dimensional Inspector - CMM Programmer/Operator.

Candidates must possess these skills:
• Strong blue print reading and inspection planning skills.
• Ability to develop key characteristics list by discussion with the end item user and/or Cognizant Engineer.
• Strong skills in personal communication of inspection results to a wide range of internal and external customers.
• Thorough knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5; and its practical application to manufacturing processes and dimensional inspection of fabricated hardware.
• Proficiency in the use and care of micrometers, calipers, bore gages, thread gages, and surface plate equipment in a manner that consistently reflects a deep understanding of metrology and GD&T.
• Proficiency in programming and operating automated coordinate measuring machines in a manner that consistently reflects a strong understanding of GD&T.
• Proficiency in programming and operating automated coordinate measuring machines utilizing engineering CAD models, to develop programs in PC-DMIS for complex mechanical parts..
• The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the aerospace industry to include an understanding of ISO series of requirements, as well as applicable MIL Standards, ANSI, SAE, ASME, NASA and other appropriate requirement specifications applicable to the aerospace industry.

Desired:
Be familiar with PC-DMIS, Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, and, Access. Knowledge of Oracle is desired. That is the business system JPL currently uses. A thorough working knowledge of Meeting Maker and Eudora and Netscape is also desired.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidate will:
• Develop programs in PC-DMIS for complex mechanical parts.
• Run the program designated for each appropriate part and verify all Key Characteristics identified in the Quality Plan are verified as acceptable.
• Record the actual measurements of the identified characteristics identified on the Quality Plan.
• Generate Inspection Reports using the Oracle business system.
• Assist the Quality Planner in developing the Key Characteristics of parts when requested.
• Assist the Quality Planner in identifying the time necessary to generate the CMM inspection program when required.
• Use his/her interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written to effectively communcate with others on the laboratory.
• Must be willing to travel for source inspection or other laboratory buisness if required.
• Will conduct other inspections using surface plates and other non-automated inspection devices (claipers, ring gages, etc.).

Qualified candidates will be invited to provide a practical demonstration of the above listed skills prior to final selection.
