CHCS/AHLTA/SPMS/Military Healthcare Experts
Installs, maintains, monitors, and coordinates the operation of complex local and/or wide area networks; works under limited supervision; performs additional duties as assigned. Duties include:
1. Responsible for the acquisition, installation, maintenance, and usage of complex networks that typically link numerous computing platforms, operating systems, and network topologies across widely dispersed geographic areas;
2. Tests and implements interface programs;
3. Evaluates hardware and software for large, complex networks to determine which products best meet organization/customer needs;
4. Manages network performance and maintains network security;
5. Ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced;
6. Evaluates, develops, and maintains telecommunications systems;
7. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems to ensure minimal disruption of mission-critical applications;
8. Establishes network policies and procedures regarding access methods and time, security validation checks, and documentation;
9. Researches hardware and software issues regarding the network;
10. Maintains fault-tolerant systems and manages system backups;
11. Provides technical support and training to end-users;
12. May provide work leadership to less-experienced network support personnel;
13. Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned;
14. Participates in special projects as required.
. Typically requires 5-8 years of directly related experience in network administration and support;
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.

Local travel required approximately 28 days per year to outlying clinics.
Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support;
2. Thorough knowledge of modems, data scopes, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and network management software;
3. Thorough knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications;
4. May require certification in one or more specific applications (such as MCSE, MCSA, CNE, CNA), depending on job assignment
REQUIREMENTS
MUST have experience with CHCS/AHLTA/SPMS and Military Healthcare Systems.
