Assistant Techical Director - UApresents

The Technical Director, Assistant will coordinate the technical elements of multidisciplinary theatrical events, which includes lighting, sound, scenery, carpentry, stage rigging, theater maintenance and equipment requirements, with an emphasis on personnel and facility management.

* Trains, supervises and evaluates the activities of the stage crew.
* Determines setup and use of theatrical equipment prior to a performance and supervises use during performances.
* Coordinates and supervises stage crew during the load-in, performance and load-out portions of productions.
* Confers with the production company on the technical rider portion of the contract to determine lighting, sound and stage requirements, equipment needed and feasibility of stage plan with available equipment and budget.
* Ensures that the terms of the agreement are met by scheduling qualified help to perform the required tasks; determines workforce and schedules workers for maintenance, pre-hangs and performances.
* Serves as house technical representative during performances and facilitates communications to ensure interface between production crew, stage-crew and artists are seamless.
* Maintains an inventory of technical equipment and supplies necessary to perform functions inherent with each event.
* Inspects lighting, sound systems, cables, fly system, boards and power sources on a regular basis and performs/coordinates any necessary maintenance or repairs to ensure safety of both performers and employees.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree with a major in Drama or related field AND one year of stage management and theater production experience; OR, five years of stage drama experience which includes one year of stage management and theater production experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.


Preferred Qualifications
* Ability to lead a stage crew.
* Skill in performance facility management.
* Basic working knowledge of theatrical audio principles, practices and equipment.
* Knowledge of theatrical lighting principles, practice and equipment.
* Knowledge and ability to apply safe rigging and fly rail practices.
* Knowledge and ability to apply stage management principles and practices.
* Skill in stage production methods and techniques.
* Ability to effectively communicate.
