Survey/Field Technician

Purpose: Aerotek has several openings to work as Field Technicians for one of our clients in Newburgh NY. They do survey work for utility and gas companies in Rockland and Orange County, NY.

They will train you on several things: GIS, GPS, the electrical systems and the hardware found on the electrical pole.

Once trained, candidates will be out in the field and the responsibilities include:

Work safely and independently of field supervision
Utility site collection of accurate stray voltage readings of streetlights, manholes covers etc.
Able to read hand maps to find locations and coordinates
Identify utility facilities with a high degree of accuracy
Enter and download data into a handheld computer
Maintain good customer and public relations
Self motivated


Eligibility Requirements include:

Aptitude for computers, math organization and word processing skills
Ability to perform basic map reading and locate him/herself accordingly
Comply with Drug and Alcohol free Workplace
Possess a valid driver's license with no DWI/DUI convictions within the previous five years
Ability to navigate and work in an urban inner city environment
Environmental/utility background
A lot of outdoor work experience or proven involvement in school projects that required surveying/sampling activities.


Pay rate is $12.hr plus $.44 per mile driven during working hours.Classification:Contract-to-HireCompensation:
