Fire Engineer

Salary Range: $3,919-$4,783

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
*Graduation from high school, possession of a G.E.D. Certified, or equivalent.
*Must posses a valid California Class B Firefighter Driver's License
*Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
*Must posses a State Fire Marshal Fireplace 1 Certification
*One year full-time paid firefighting experience or two years as a volunteer firefighter.

THE POSITION: The Monterey Peninsula Airport District Fire Department is seeking qualified persons for the position of Fire Engineer. Fire Engineer responds to alarms and assists in fire suppression, including lifesaving and rescue; assists in maintenance of fire apparatus and equipment; maintains fire station and grounds; makes required fire prevention inspections; participates in required training; participates in department training. CPR program; operates fire apparatus during aircraft, structural and wild land incidents; responds and assists in medical emergencies. Any other duties are assigned.

REQUIREMENT EXAMINATIONS:
*Written Examinations: Standard C.P.S. testing unit.
*Oral Examination: Candidates who successfully pass the written examination may be invited to take the oral examination. The Department will limit the number of candidates invited to the oral examination.

POST CONDITIONAL OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT:
*MEDICAL EXAMINATION: Must be able to pass a comprehensive medical examination, which includes a drug and alcohol screen, and other "Fitness for Duty" criteria.
*BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: A comprehensive professional background investigation shall be conducted on each candidate given a conditional offer of employment.
*PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION: A comprehensive psychological assessment may be conducted by a licensed clinical forensic psychologist on each candidate given a conditional offer of employement.
*PROBATIONARY PERIOD: The probationary period of one (1) year is the final phase of the selection process.

**Candidates must bring a valid Driver's License or DMV picture identificaton to the test site for the written examination. Candidates who fail to bring identification shall not be allowed to test.

RETIREMENT

The retirement program currently includes excellent benefits under the Public Emplyee' Retirement System, 3% @ 50. * The Monterey Peninsula Airport District has also adopted IRS Section 414(h) 2.

OTHER BENEFITS

Employees may voluntarily contribute to a District sponsered deferred compensation plan. Eleven (11) holidays per year. Sick leave accumulates at 120 hours per year (1-5), 168 hours per year (6-10) and 240 hours after 10 years. Annual Leave accumulates at 120 hours per year (1-5), 168 hours per year (6-10) and 216 hours after ten years.
