Ferry Boat Deckhand

FERRY BOAT DECKHAND IV

Performs as second deckhand of motor ferry vessels transporting crew members, public vehicles and passengers. Work requires constant contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or equivalent plus three (3) years experience as a deckhand plus required USCG certification(s) and/or document(s) appropriate for the position and vessel being operated. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.)

COMPETENCIES:

Thorough knowledge of:
Methods and procedures used in the maintenance and repair of marine equipment, machinery, facilities and ferryboatsApplicable industry safety standards, guidelines and specification codesApplicable laws, rules and regulations

Considerable knowledge of:
Emergency response procedures
