Electro - Mechanical Technician (Robot Operator)
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Maintain a clean and organized work area per Company Housekeeping Standards. Practice safety rules and regulations per Company Safety Standards on a continuous basis. Capable of reading blueprints, layouts, instruction sheets, and gaging to produce parts to meet customer requirements. Must be able to accurately operate the robot per blueprint/layout specifications. Selects the proper tool, bits and installs. Monitors standard tooling condition and changes bits in a timely manner. Must be able to read, interpret, complex manuals and apply to on site adjustments and minor repairs. The Robot operator will perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Requires the ability to read blueprints, proper use of measuring instruments, apply and the understand computers and robotic programs. Must be proficient in math, measurements, and calculations. Must be analytical and have the ability to trouble shoot complex equipment. High school or GED. Understands and able to convert English to Metric measurement systems.
Experience: Appropriate robotic training at a technical institute, manufactures training or on the job training. Understand and support continuous improvement techniques and processes. A minimum of 2 plus years operating 6 axis robotic machine. Must under spatial relationships. Motoman and water jet experience a plus.
Initiative & Ingenuity: Ability to set-up robotic machine from blueprint and layouts and apply proper drill bits. Access machine capability and make decisions regarding machine adjustment and errors. Trouble shoots where necessary and makes minor program, mechanical and electrical adjustments. Work with maintenance on installations and complex repairs.
Physical Demands: Lift minimum of 50 pounds. Use overhead cranes or other lifing devises to position fiberglass components on platform for drilling. Frequent standing, bending, lifting and twisting is required.
Mental & Visual Demands: Continuous attention and inspection to insure robot is performing satisfactory and in accordance with written specifications. Vision must be 20/20 corrected. Must be able to make calculations from blueprints and convert English to metric robot movements. Ability to visualize and work in a 3-D special environment.
Responsibility for Equipment or Process: Keep area clean and perform any and all required preventive maintenance associated with the area and equipment assigned. Insure the efficient operation of the robot to maximize efficiency and cycle time.
Responsibility Safety of Others: Adherence to lockout/tag out requirements, all plant safety/OSHA guidelines, protective clothing and standard housekeeping guidelines. Operate the equipment making sure the proper barriers are in place to protect self and fellow associates from injury.
Responsibility Work of Others: Responsible for participating in a team environment to meet customer expectations. Work closely with quality, engineering, maintenance, and production on maintaining high quality, implementation of new products, and continuous improvement. Work closely with maintenance by diagnosing machine repair needs, performing repairs, scheduling downtime for major repair, and coordinating with maintenance. All other requirements deemed necessary to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Working Environment: Exposure to fiberglass, fiberglass bonding agents, grease, propane, and oils. Ensure proper storage, installation and use of agents used in the plant. Agents described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the routine functions of this job.
Hazards: Exposed to heavy lifting devises, robotic indexing, tool holder movement, moving objects, sharp drill bits, flying chips and pinch points.
