Sourcing Specialist

This position will be responsible for leading new product development sourcing, the launch of procured product, and the implementation of commodity and procurement strategies for the products assigned. This will require leading the supplier relationship with prototype and production OEM suppliers to accomplish new product launch objectives. Additionally, a high degree of interface with engineering, program management, and site operations purchasing is required within a fluid purchasing structure.

Candidates at this level of experience may also be required to lead sourcing related activity on new product launch programs as a core team member for the new product program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities for all related processes and ensures adherence to all relevant new product launch processes and procedures.
Provides routine updates to the organization and senior management on the progress and issues associated with New Product launches.
Lead sourcing activities required for new product components with in the jurisdiction of assigned area.
Prepare purchase orders, requisitions, request for proposals, bids and other similar and necessary documents related to the purchasing of product.
Analyze quotations for new components from current or new suppliers in a manner that is consistent with the sourcing strategy and commodity manager's direction.
Select qualified sources consistent with commodity strategies to provide components which support quality, cost, and timing requirements for new product programs. Provide component costs which fall within the established budget and drive cost reduction activities as required to meet target costs.
Performs Material Requirement Planning and scheduling for assigned components until hand off to Operations Purchasing.
Monitor cost, schedule, technical, and drawing release status of projects and leads corrective action as required.
Provide accurate cost targets for new product as directed.
Support assessment of potential suppliers and projects by utilizing the process and toolset of the Brunswick Sourcing Process. Support on-site supplier visits, which may require international travel.
Align supply chain, sourcing, and packaging activities with new product build and release schedules.
Facilitate 'Early Supplier Involvement' meetings.
Leads coordination of resources and schedules between multiple departments including Supply Chain, Purchasing, Production, Marketing, Service, and Engineering.
Create a linkage between our prototype suppliers and our production level suppliers so that the quality, cost, and timing of prototype components are provided by our production suppliers.
Serve as a liaison between engineering, the supply base, and operations purchasing.
Personal development continuous improvement of interpersonal skills, Mercury Marine product knowledge, and functional expertise.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
Must be able to prioritize manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Detailed/Working knowledge of QCT Product Launch or equivalent process.
Organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Awareness of supplier assessment process.
Experience with the PPAP process.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, cost management and writing skills
MS Office: Computer proficiency with standard software packages, including Word, Power Point, and Excel.
Ability to work independently with some oversight required.
Able to read blue prints at a basic level
Good Technical Aptitude
REQUIREMENTS
BA/BS in Business, Operations, Engineering, Materials Management, Supply Chain or a business-related field is required.
A minimum of 3 - 5 years of demonstrated competency in procurement, supply chain, engineering, operations, or finance.
Experience in concurrent product development through contribution to new product launches is desired.
Knowledge of Marine related products.
Good project management skills are desired.
Good understanding of manufacturing /quality processes pertinent to the commodity assigned
CPM certification required, must be accomplished within one year of employment
MS Eng, MBA, and CPIM are a plus

Travel:
Minimal overnight travel (20% or less), including international travel.
