The National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to lead requirements building and quality assurance tasks on NORC projects. The Senior Business Analyst will also work on proposal development activities. This position will be located at our Chicago downtown offices.
Responsibilities include: The Senior Business Analyst will lead the development of functional system requirements with internal and external clients to develop and formally document these requirements; will lead in creating systems test plans and test cases; coordinate and execute test cycles; and assist in the resolution of post-production issues and enhancements. The Senior Business Analyst may lead teams of less experienced Business Analysts in developing requirements and tests, and function as a coach and mentor in creating high quality deliverables. The Senior Business Analyst will assist the IT Project Manager in tracking progress on these tasks, and assisting the PM in resolution of issues that could impact the schedule, budget, resources or quality. The Senior Business Analyst may lead tasks as delegated by the PM. The Senior Business Analyst is expected to contribute to and lead in the development of standards and process improvements for the Business Analysis team. The Senior Business Analyst will also contribute to proposal writing, editing, and related business development efforts.
Requirements include: B.S. in Computer Science or related field required; plus at least 4 years of related experience in business information systems and process analysis, with strong data analysis skills (SQL, relational database) and system process modeling skills. Prior hands-on background in software development and data management preferred, preferably in a data intensive environment. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in: (1) structured requirements and specifications development (including UML and Use Cases) for custom software builds and software builds within existing application frameworks; (2) creating and executing test plans and cycles, including systems testing and UAT (3) task management and client presentation skills; (4) the ability to write and communicate complex systems descriptions and specifications for both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with complex data management (research data management, databases, and data warehousing) is a plus.
The candidate should have strong communications skills and be able to work effectively in an on-site consulting environment. The candidate should also have strong writing skills for proposal development efforts. Team lead experience is a plus.
