Purchasing Manager

Koppel Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Manager with management experience. Purpose and Scope: To provide uninterrupted flow of material and services to and through the company to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled. • Procure an average of 30,000 tons of scrap monthly – Value approx. $7 million per month • Procure Electric requirements for Koppel, Ambridge and Texas yearly – Value approx. $1.5 million/month • 2 direct reports – 10 indirect reports • Responsible for 3-5 million dollars of storeroom inventory • $150 million dollars of procured goods and services • Reports to the Materials Manager • Purchasing Supervisor and Buyer report to this position
REQUIREMENTS
• Procedures – Establish methodologies to ensure procurement practices are efficient, obtain best cost and are morally and ethically correct. • Negotiate purchase orders on major commodities. • Direct storeroom activities to minimize cash outlay. • Develop budget for department. • Ensure month end closing practices are conducted to support Accounting. • Manage procurement and delivery of scrap and other raw materials so that Operations are not interrupted and inventory levels do not exceed more than 2 weeks worth of requirements. • Ensure cycle counts at the 3 storerooms are completed 100% each year. • Assist in the implementation of SAP to secure a smooth transition during cutover. • Complete all PIP requirements for self and departmental reports. • Successfully negotiate new electricity contract for Koppel facility by years end. • Successfully negotiate new “Heckett” contract for Koppel facility by years end. • Manage coupling requirements for all facilities to ensure uninterrupted flow from suppliers and no shipments are late because of coupling shortages. • Review current purchasing S.O.P.’s and modify/upgrade as required to comply w/ internal and Sarbanes Oxley requirements on a yearly basis.
