Purchasing Associate

Job Purpose:

Support the Purchasing Department in Herndon, Virginia

Job Responsibilities:

•Receives requisition, checking for completeness and accuracy of data, investigate sources of supply for items
•Performs follow-up on purchase orders, investigates complaints
•Ensures that materials, equipment, and supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner
•Chooses vendors, places orders, and maintains records
•Ordering equipment and software
•Corresponding/communicating with vendors via phone, e-mail, and fax in order to source products
•Responsible for resolving invoice problems, shipment shortages and/or packing slip errors as identified by the Accounts Payable and Receiving Departments
REQUIREMENTS
Job Knowledge/Skills:

•Basic purchasing procedures
•Must be organized, energetic, dependable, and possess excellent attention to details
•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies and recommend changes to procedures
•Proficient in on-line searching and vendor inquiries
•Ability to multi-task and meet critical purchasing deadlines
•Able to manage tasks and time efficiently
•Detail oriented and able to work independently

Education and Experience:

•Must have at least 3 years IT Purchasing experience
•4 Year degree preferred
