The Proposal Writer/ Team Lead directs and coordinates proposal development efforts for SEH. This position furthers company goals by working to achieve a high proposal win rate. Qualified candidates will demonstrate self-motivation and top performance with a strong commitment to delivering a high quality product, broad writing and proposal management experience, and extensive experience working with subject matter experts to develop winning proposals by responding to requests for proposal (RFPs) requirements and developing winning competitive strategies and outlines for RFP responses.
Job Responsibilities:
Coordinates the efforts of a team of proposal writers and coordinators assigned to specific proposals, including motivating and mentoring team members throughout the proposal process
Analyzes requests for proposal (RFPs) requirements; coordinates go/no-go decision-making and develops strategies and outlines for RFP responses.
Conducts strategy meetings; develops, implements, and controls proposal schedules; and takes action as appropriate to ensure deliverable milestones are met.
Writes key sections of proposals, as applicable, including cover letters, executive summaries, project understandings, etc.
Motivates and mentors proposal writers and proposal specialists to operate as operate as a team to deliver quality products.
Performs content editing and identifies gaps and proposal weaknesses; develops and implements QA/QC measures to ensure quality proposals
Oversees production process from start to finish within tight timeframes.
Conducts proposal and client debriefings; and analyzes any issues or problems during course of proposal development and applies lessons learned.
Conducts training with Project Managers to develop quality proposals and follow proposal processes.
Works closely with the Corporate Communications Director to provide input on staff performance; prepares win and production reports as requested.
Identifies and implements process improvements that will reduce the time needed for subsequent proposal development, including updating and contributing to document databases, performing technical analyses of competitor proposals, and researching and developing content to support future proposal efforts.
Develops strategies, winning themes for interviews; writes content, and helps to coach Project Managers to deliver quality, winning interviews.
Provides company-wide writing and editing services.
Ensures brand and key messages are consistently promoted in proposals
REQUIREMENTS
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, marketing, communications, management, business, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum three (3) years proposal writing experience required, preferably writing responses to government RFPs.
Strong writing and editing skills and ability required.
Strong project management skills required.
Demonstrated experience analyzing RFP requirements and creating proposal outlines, storyboards, and assignment schedules required.
Solid understanding of standard corporate proposal formats and templates required.
Must be highly organized with proven skills managing and tracking assignments and deadlines.
Ability to edit or rewrite sections of proposals to ensure readability and adherence to win themes, without distorting the author’s original intent, required.
Strong experience using Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Word, and Excel, required.Excellent track record working on proposal development teams required.
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work successfully in a fast paced environment on multiple priority projects.
